Those rank 7 guns could easy carry you through your first playthrough whether it be easy or hard mode and would be pretty solid gear all the way up to level 50. For reference, if you did this at the start of the game you'd only be able to buy rank 1 or 2 gear and spectre gear was pretty much the best. The achievement for having one million credits was particularly good, unlocking the ability to buy rank 7 spectre gear from the special spectre store. Fun! So what you'd do is you'd run back and forth clearing out in your inventory, buying it all back, spending your profits on new items and just getting more and more money and within half an hour or so you'd have millions and be set for the rest of the game.īut it doesn't quite stop there, the thing that makes this exploit particularly good is that Mass Effect 1 as an xbox 360 game had the rather unique trait of having in-game rewards unlocked through achievements. So you could sell things to the vendor with a 20% bonus, buy it back elsewhere for the normal price and keep the 20% bonus. Thing is, there were multiple shops in that area and they all shared a "buy back" screen, and none of the rest took into account this difference. So in Mass Effect 1 there was one vendor (a medic, I think) on the citadel you could do a side quest for pretty early on and doing so would reward you with something like "20% better prices" (for both buying prices and selling prices). I'm a big fan of the one from the original Mass Effect so I'm gonna squeeze that into your definition of "any game with limited resources".
